Rupaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 2: Thoughts before the
Premiere
It is about damn time we got a season 2 to Rupaul’s Drag
Race All Stars. Think about how long ago that was. Yes, Incredibly long ago. It
is understandable though, seeing how short and not as fun as the other seasons
of drag race. They decided to do teams, which I liked at first, but when you
find out both queens would have to go home it became a letdown. Also, it was only 6 episodes…. c’mon now! That
time frame leaves barely any room for growth and drama. All in all, some
favorites went home early and it felt like it was Chad Michaels from the start.
Now we have a new season and another new twist awaiting the
queens. All who are returning for their “Rudemption”. Some of our favorites are
returning to the front and some villains of the past seasons return. Social
media has let out some frustrations as there is also only 10 queens this
season. The format now has it to where the queens have to lip sync for their
legacy. Which means, that the Top 2 instead of the Bottom 2 will have to lip
sync and whoever wins can then send a queen home. Now!!! I am not for sure if
they get to choose just from all the queens or if they get a bottom 3 to select
from; it’s still a pretty good twist.

The judges have changed up a bit as well. Instead of Ross
Matthews as a regular, Todrick Hall will replace him. I enjoyed him as a guest
judge on Season 8 of the show. The new guest judges include, Raven-Symone, Ross
Mathews, Graham Norton, Jeremy Scott, Nicole Scherzinger and Aubrey Plaza have
been confirmed with others. Michelle Visage and Carson Kressley will continue
on as regular judges with Rupaul.
So now we got all the basics out of the way here are some of
my thoughts.
I cannot say that I am rooting specifically for anyone just
yet and I feel like I want to reserve that thought until after the first episode,
I understand that they go off of…who picks up the phone and has the time to
shoot, but DAMN, there are a lot of season 5 queens on this season and with
only 10 queens, I feel we could have thrown in 2 more queens from other seasons.
Also, depending on how this “Lipsync for your Legacy” is set up, this could be
a nice new set up for following All Stars seasons…or could be another bad idea
like teams in Season 1. I am excited to see the lip syncs though and hope we
get some epic battles. Remember, Roxxxy and Alyssa had one of the most iconic
lip syncs on the show and they both are back for All Stars 2. I could go in on
all the other contestants, but again I am waiting for the first episode to
really give you some juice. We shall see what this new season brings and pray
that we get a season 3.
