Project Runway All Stars!!!! Quick Review

Its back!!! Project Runway is back on and this time it's all stars season. They have had specials where the all stars come back on, but they never had a season of it. Now, I will say I miss Heidi Klum, Micheal Kors and Nina Garcia. These new judges will have to grow on me, but I'm excited for how this will turn out. The prize is much bigger this time around and they have a cast of some favorites and some people you just couldn't stand to watch. So here is my quick summary of the cast, the judges, the prizes and who is in and who is out.

So here is a picture of the cast, which includes: Mondo, Michael C., Mila, Anthony, Jerrell, Elisa, Austin, Kenley, Rami, Sweet Pea, Gordana, April and Kara.
I was glad to see some of these cast mates(except a few), but I will hold these opinions until later episodes(evil grin tee hee).

The Judges are: Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman and Angela Lindvall

It is nice to see new faces, but I hope they can offer the same wit and decisiveness the other judges have held for such a long time.

The prize this year is a very huge one. The winner will get their own exclusive boutique in Neiman Marcus stores around the country as well as an online store with Neiman Marcus Online. They will also get a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and be a guest editor for 1 year. They also get $100,000 from HP Intel towards equipment and another $100,000 in cash for themselves. The total worth of the grand prize is $500,000......so pretty much i need to get some needle and thread and push out some clothes.

Now the challenge was an old school favorite. They had to make a beautiful garment out of unconventional items from the 99cents store. The twist was the look must be inspired from the garments that they had brought in from the beginning of the show(they did that to show the judges their aesthetics towards how they have progressed as designers. They were given a $100 budget. Now their new mentor is JoAnna Coales(Editor in Chief of Marie Claire). She is no Tim Gunn, but I did like her approach towards mentoring(she will grow on me, I'm sure). The guest judge for this challenge was Ken Downing(Senior Vice President & Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus).  Pretty much this is the man that your going to be working with when you finish this challenge, so you better bang out something too fly for words.

So when it came down to judging the final looks Rami won for his beautiful dress that he put together(seriously i got up clapped for it when she came walking down the runway). Mondo was in second(his was phenomanal too) and Jerrell came in third. Gordana, Sweet Pea and Elisa were in the bottom 3, but Elisa was the first one out of the competition(if you saw her garment you would understand why).Rami's was more polished and well presented and Elisas was more of an art project than actual fashion(this is the woman that spits on clothes as her mark....eww)

This season looks to be great and have some interesting drama as well as some awesome designs being shown. Lets give Lifetime a look and keep your Thursday Nights free. Project Runway All Stars is at Lifetime on Thursdays at 10p/9c -MR3akaMRCubed.
